Our team at Synergy Radiology supports Red Apple Day – a highlight of Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. This year Red Apple Day is held on the 19th of June.
Australia has one of the world’s highest rates of bowel cancer; however it is a treatable disease if diagnosed early.
Red Apple Day effectively raises awareness for Australians to look after their bowel health and identify symptoms that could assist with early detection and treatment.
Common risk factors for bowel cancer include:
- 50 years of age and over (although Bowel Cancer Australia encourages that age should not be a deterrent from getting checked)
- Family history
- History or detection of polyps in the bowel
- History of Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis
- High alcohol consumption
- Excess body fat and physical inactivity
Please contact your GP if you experience any symptoms or if any changes occur.
If your GP requires medical imaging such as MRI, CT and Ultrasound for further information, please make an online booking here or call us at your nearest site.
